Obituary WASHINGTONa"Eleanor "Ellie" M. Blackman, 84, of Washington died at 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her residence. She was born on May 9, 1925 in Peoria, IL to Frederick J. and Irene M. Cole Radespiel. She married Charles W. Blackman on May 29, 1948 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1999 in Washington. Surviving are 5 children, Charles "Pete" (Jeanette) Blackman, Jr. of Washington, Katherine (James) Collister of Peoria, Jewell (Jed) Toms of Washington, Steve (Sue) Blackman of Williamsville, and Margaret (Curt) Horton of East Peoria; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Eleanor had worked as a CNA at Washington Nursing Home and Proctor Hospital. She was a past member of AMVETS Post #64 in Peoria and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. She was an avid bowler and loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 28 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials may be made to the Northern Tazewell Fire & Rescue squad or to the American Heart Association.
