Obituary East Peoria - Elaine K. Hammond, 87 of East Peoria, passed away at 1:24 PM Saturday, June 23, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Elaine was born on December 5, 1924 in North Bend, Nebraska to the late Rupert and Katherine Hartman Westphalen. She married Lloyd Hammond on October 3, 1970 in Peoria, IL. He predeceased her on March 13, 1992. Surviving are four sons and two daughters, Robert (Vickie) McCarthy of Warrenton, MO; William McCarthy of Wichita Falls, TX; James (Pamela) McCarthy of Seadrift, TX; Evainda (Lothar) Vogel of Pittsburg, KS; Candra (Dave) Mingus of East Peoria and Dean Huffstutler of East Peoria; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by 2 infant children and one brother, Lloyd Westphalen. Elaine was previously employed as a housemother for Methodist School of Nursing. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Pabst Retirees Club and the Fondulac Coffee Clutch. Elaine attended Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will take place at 11 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory of East Peoria. Pastor Mark Nelson will officiate with interment in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 5-7 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
