Obituary

Obituary Eileen P. Paranto, 91, of Washington, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Unity Point Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She was born to George W. and Lula R. Sartwell Scott on May 12, 1924 in Burlington, N.D. She was raised in Burlington, N.D. and graduated from Minot High School, Minot, N.D. with the class of 1942. She married Hubert Goebel of Foxholm, N.D. on March 27, 1944 in the U.S. Chapel in Victorville, CA. He was killed in action during WWII on January 26, 1945. She then married Raymond J. Paranto in Baker, MT on July 2, 1946. They resided in Lemmon S. D. until June 5, 1961 when they moved to Washington, IL. Raymond passed away September 8, 2009 at home in Washington. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; 1 sister; and son-in-law, Jimmy Armstrong. Eileen is survived by 7 children, Mary Lou Hopwood of Washington, M. James (Kris) Paranto of Metamora, La Donna (James) Ernst of Washington, Conny Armstrong of Pekin, Bonnie (Merle Jr.) Lee and M. John (Shelly) Paranto both of Peoria Heights, Ronald Paranto of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; 1 brother, Dennis Scott of Coleman, TX; and a special niece, Jodi Scott of East Peoria. Eileen was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a Gold Star Member of the American Legion Post in South Dakota and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A funeral mass for Eileen will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Stephen Willard officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 5:45 pm Tuesday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with recitation of the Rosary at 5:45 pm. Additional visitation will be from 10:30 - 11am Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
