Eileen J. McElhiney, 88, of Peoria, formerly of Colorado, passed away at 2:32 pm Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 at Aperion Care Morton Villa. She was born Feb. 6, 1931 in Peoria to the late Jesse Dean and Gladys Marie Kraft Weast. She married Donald Eugene McElhiney on July 14, 1950. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1999. Surviving are five children, Diana Meister of Edwards, Debra Johnson of Peoria, Donita (Dan) Berry of Ft. Collins, CO, Dale McElhiney of Sheridan, WY, Dave (Deb) McElhiney of Upton, WY; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Eileen worked as a secretary at District 150 in Peoria retiring in 1991 and moved to Colorado. She participated in various choral and theatrical groups in Illinois and Colorado. She loved to sing and spent time with her grandchildren. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Unity Point Methodist Hospice or to donors choice.
