Obituary WASHINGTON-Eileen M. Blumenshine, 86, of Washington, IL passed away at 2:35 pm Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 13, 1924 in Washington, IL to Edwin and Margaret (Gunther) Hess, she married Emil Lee Blumenshine, Jr. "Arkie" on September 17, 1949 in Washington. Surviving are 4 sons, David (Karen) Blumenshine of Pekin, IL; Dale Blumenshine, Duane (Kristi) Blumenshine, and Donnie Blumenshine, all of Washington; 8 grandchildren, Paul, Mark, Erin, Brian, Erica, Aaron Blumenshine and Brian & Shawn Patton; brother-in-law, Robert (Carolyn) Blumenshine of Washington, and sister-in-law, Loretta Hess of Deer Creek, IL. She was also a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in August, 1960; brother, Robert Hess; sister, Evelyn (Hess) Meister; sister-in-law, Dorothy Belsley; brother-in-law, Adam Blumenshine; brother & sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Blumenshine. Eileen worked hard as a single mother to raise 4 boys after she lost her husband at a young age. She loved baking, watching her game shows, playing Bingo, and spending time with her friends and family. She attended Bay View Baptist Church in East Peoria and was a member the American Legion Post 100 women's auxiliary in Washington. Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Keith Thibo will officiate. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
