Obituary WASHINGTON-Edwin W. Fron, 89, of Washington, IL died at 8:00 am Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. Born on September 22, 1920 in Chicago, IL to John and Josephine Paas Fron, he married LaVada M. Hersemann on June 25, 1960 in Lacon, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Sharon Connolly of Sun City, AZ, Janice (Wayne) Benda of Downers Grove, IL; 3 step-daughters, Cheri Diane (Stephen) Condon of Holden ME, Janine Gelish (Jenny Christopherson) of Seattle, WA, Renee (Ed) Robison of Seattle, WA; 1 step-son, Anthony Gelish (Linda Wright) of Ewa Beach, HI; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Edwin was a United States Air Force veteran serving during WW II. Edwin worked for Reynolds Metals in Chicago. He then worked as an electrician for General Motors in Chicago, retiring in January 1985. He was a member of IBEW Union Local #134, the UAW, and the Moose Lodge #9. Edwin was an amateur radio enthusiast whose local call sign was K9EWF. He was also a member of the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation. A graveside service will be at 11 am Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, with services conducted by the US Air Force and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, June 18, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation.
