Obituary
Edward Franklin Jones, 84, of Metamora, passed away at 7:10am, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at UnityPoint Methodist Health in Peoria.
He was born March 16, 1930 in Beardstown, to Lewis V. and Marie Shouse Jones. He married Mary E. Weber on July 8, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Gail (Michael) Matuszewski of Morton, LouAnn (Steve) Armstrong of Metamora, and Amy (Randy) Pruitt of Washington; son, David (Janis) Jones of Mackinaw; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Grow, Mary (Ed) Simpkins, Kim (Ben) Anderson, Jesse (Darrell) Caho, Brock (Shana) Jones, Sarah (Mike) Hibit, Dan (Jane Scott) Armstrong, Andrew Pruitt, and Mia Pruitt; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Collison of Beardstown; and sister in law, Lois Jones of Virginia, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Eugene, Alfred, and Alvin.
Ed worked for Caterpillar, retiring in 1984 after 35 years of service. He served in the United States' Air force from 1950-1954, during the Korean War. He tutored at the South Side Mission and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He was a member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, where he served on the Board of Stewardship and as an Usher.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 200 Cole St., East Peoria. Ed chose to donate his body to science in order to help others. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton at a later date.
