She was born January 4, 1928 in East Peoria to the late Adolph H. and Laura M. Wieland Lauffenberger. Edna was a member of the Washington Apostolic Christian Church and was active in church activities. She was a volunteer at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria Heights, world relief at her church, and Mid Illinois Talking Book Center in East Peoria.
Edna's life exhibited the blessings of family and a servant spirit brought full circle - taken in and nurtured by the Simons as a child, she returned the favor throughout her life and in her later years, steadfastly guided the Simon family ship to thus its final port of call. And though raised apart from, she was likewise blessed with and cherished the familial bonds of her Lauffenberger family. For the good care received at the Eureka home, and the many kind deeds of countless others - visits, phone calls, music, and spiritual sustenance - much heartfelt appreciation is given. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10 to 11am Wednesday at the church.
