Obituary Washington- Edith I. Bertsche, 91 of Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Edith was born on May 17, 1921 in rural Mason City, IL to the late Lawrence and Bertha DePue Stroupe. Edith married Howard Watson on May 19, 1940. She then married Karl C. Bertsche on December 27, 1980. He predeceased her on February 14, 2007. Surviving are two children, Robert Watson of Bartonville and Janice Watson of El Paso; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by two sisters, Ada and Barbara. Edith was a nurse for OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 35 years. She enjoyed her calling so much that even after retirement she worked for over 10 years giving personal care to people in their homes. She belonged to the Retired Nurses of OSF, Knights of Columbus Council # 6707 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Patrick Catholic Church. Graveside Services for Edith will take place at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Roanoke Township Cemetery in Roanoke, IL. Monsignor John Prendergast will officiate.
