Obituary
East Peoria - Douglas Hugh Ramsey, 63, of East Peoria, IL died on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL at 5:08 a.m.
He was born on October 16, 1948 in Peoria, IL to Douglas and Virginia Coy Ramsey. He married Edna K. Griffith on December 27, 1976. She survives him.
Also surviving are a son, Erik D. Ramsey, East Peoria; a step-son, Brian (Lola) Griffith, Chino Hills, CA; a granddaughter, Mariah H. Ramsey, East Peoria, IL; his mother, Virginia Ramsey, Peoria; step-mother, Carlotta Ramsey, Mackinaw, IL; two sisters, Linda (Melvin) Robertson, Bowling Green, KY; Angela Ramsey, Mackinaw, IL; and a nephew, Adam Payne, Mackinaw, IL. Doug was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
Doug served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Doug worked for Fleming- Potter for 35 years and then for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Morton in Specialized Storage for the past eight years, last working on Friday, February 24.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peoria, Mohammed Temple, and the Shriners Arab Patrol Team. He loved to go to Laughlin, Nevada with his wife and family. Doug was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed Blues music.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor David Craig will officiate. A Committal service will follow the service at Meadow Valley Center 2075 Washington Rd. Washington, where Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. A visitation will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.at the funeral home.
