Douglas "Doug" Brooks, 58, of East Peoria, passed away unexpectedly at 8:23pm Friday, April 15, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Doug was born February 11, 1964 in Peoria to Richard and Ann Spencer Brooks. He married the love of his life, Christine P. Schmitt, on May 4, 1985 in Creve Coeur; she preceded him in death October 28, 2021.

Surviving are their daughters, Jessica (Mike) Kelly of Metamora and Ashley (Justin) Taylor of East Peoria; grandchildren, Madilynn and Mikey, Jr.; his mom, Ann, brother, Jeff (Holly) Brooks,  nephews, Jack and Joseph, all of East Peoria; and his uncle Bob (Janell) Brooks.

He was also preceded in death by his dad, and his sister, Lynn Brooks.

Doug worked for Grimm Brothers for many years before going to work at Caterpillar in 2010. Doug's three biggest loves in life were his family, playing his drums, and riding his Harley. No matter what his kids or grandkids were involved in, you could find him on the sidelines or volunteering behind the scenes. He had a passion for the drums, and loved practicing and playing events; they gave him a renewed purpose after losing Chris. When he wasn't drumming, he was on his Harley any time he could be.

Family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm Friday, April 22, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A celebration of life will be from 5-10:00pm Friday, April 29, 2022 at Spring Bay American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Valley ABATE, where Doug was an active member.
