Obituary WASHINGTON - Douglas B. Arvin, 91, of Washington, died at 10:45 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Morton Terrace in Morton, IL. Born on January 20, 1915 in Pittsburg, KS to William and Frances Mae McLemore Arvin, he married Pauline M. Kroenlein on February 18, 1939 in Keokuk, IA. She died on December 8, 2003 in Eureka, IL. Surviving are 2 sons Larry (Vonda) Arvin of Eureka, IL, and Jack (Linda) Arvin of Spring Bay, IL, 3 daughters, Patricia Phelps of Lacon, IL, Rebecca (Tim) Waldeck of Minneapolis, MN, and Marilyn Schoenbeck of Washington, IL, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, participating in the invasion of Guadalcanal and Okinawa. A member of Ironworkers Local #112 in Peoria for over 70 years, he worked as a Structural Ironworker. Services will be at 11 am Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial of cremains will be at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka at a later date. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
