Obituary
Dorothy Virginia "Dot" Yonkouski Trau, 88, of Washington died at 6:35 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 4, 1927 in Farmington, IL to Joseph and Mary Vlahovich Yonkouski, she married Richard H. Trau on May 7, 1949 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1978 in Peoria. Surviving are her children, Richard (Bonnie) Trau of East Peoria, Phyllis (the late Bryon) Rutledge of East Peoria, Rosann (Roger) Wilson of Wheeling, IL, Michael (Amy) Trau of Ballwin, MO, Julie (Michael) Balentine of Washington, Thomas (Debbie) Trau of East Peoria, Dodie (John) Fisher of Washington, and Molly Ludolph of Washington; sister, Rosemary (the late Archie) Rainwater of Rochelle, IL; brother, Joseph (Venie) Yonkouski of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Betsy (Garrett) Dunlap and Toni (Brady) Beckman; Joe (Debbie) Rutledge, Chrissy (Mark) Mount and Angie (Justin) Bainter; Heather (John) Sullivan, Holly (Jeff) Gravel and Michael Palombi; Nick Finney (Chelsea Cox), Jaclyn Finney, Cody Balentine, Callie Balentine (Cody Young); Jennifer (Andrew) Blik, Kate (Justin) VanValey, T.J. Trau (Kelsey Ehrhardt) and Drew Trau; Austin (Natalie) Fisher, Isaac Fisher and Caleb Fisher; Charlie Ludolph, Luke Ludolph and Cole Ludolph, great-grandchildren, Steven, Kaili and Karissa Dunlap; Tyler, Sven, Bryn, Frankie and Nelly Beckman; David and Ethan Rutledge; Lexi and Ben Mount; Jensen and Ayla Bainter; Jack, Neve and Caroline Sullivan; Bri and Trevor Gravel; Brayson Young; Audrey and Owen Blik; Eli and Lia VanValey; and Joselyn Fisher; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy graduated from Manual High School and the Peoria Business School. She was a lunch lady at Dist. 150 and later worked at the Children's Home in Peoria. Dorothy also worked for OSF Healthcare College of Nursing and the billing office, from which she retired. She was also a 24/7 homemaker to her large family. Dorothy dearly loved her family and cherished the time with her grandchildren. She was their #1 fan and enjoyed attending their activities. She had unconditional love and made everyone feel special. Even if you were not in the immediate family, you were considered family. To know Dorothy was to love her, she will be immensely missed by all. Christ, faith, and family were all important to her. She had a strong Christian faith and was considered a prayer warrior with her prayer book and rosary at hand. She was a humble servant of the Lord. Dorothy was a member of OSF Senior Saints and a lifetime member of the Hanna City Sportsman Club. She was a former member of St. Bernard's Church in Peoria and was a current member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 11 am Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Steve Willard will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 pm Friday, September 30, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Interment will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke or OSF Hospice.
