Obituary WASHINGTON - Dorothy Ann Thomas, 92, of Washington, IL, died at 6:50 am Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. Born on December 3, 1917 in East Peoria, IL, to Lee W. and Mary Dainty Burton, she married James "Lonnie" Thomas on August 1, 1935. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1993. Also preceding her in death are a son, Lonnie Lee Thomas, her daughter-in-law Shari Thomas, her twin brother, Donald, 3 additional brothers, and 4 sisters. Surviving are 2 daughters, Pat (Glenn) Essig and Shirla (Fred) Joos, both of Washington, 1 sister, Betty (Frank) Querry of St. Claire Shores, MI, and 1 brother, George (Sue) Burton of Groveland, IL, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy and her husband owned and operated the Marathon Gas Station in Sunnyland for many years. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and she especially enjoyed vacationing and fishing with them in Canada. She will be fondly remembered for her smile and cheerful personality. Services will be at 11 am Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Richard Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
