Obituary WASHINGTONa"Dorothy Lou Newell, 75, of Washington died at 9:17 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born July 9, 1935 in Roanoke, IL to Lester and Anna Jenkins. Her father, Lester preceded her in death while she was an infant, and her mother later married Edward Faucon, who helped raise Dorothy. She married George Newell on November 30, 1952 in Roanoke; he survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Phyllis Gerber of Creve Coeur and Kevin Newell of Washington; 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Gerber and 2 great grandchildren, Keegan and Jaxson; 4 sisters, Hazel Link of Mokena, Bonnie Mayhall of Eureka, Virginia Hobson of Germantown Hills, and Sandra Staley of Chillicothe; 2 brothers, Frank Jenkins of Morton and George Jenkins of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Lester Lee Jenkins, and 2 sisters, Mildred Monge and Gladys Gallianetti. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and spending time with her family. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm on Wed, May 11, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington . There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Inurnment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
