Obituary Dorothy M. Childers, 86, of Washington, passed away at 10:55pm Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Riverview Care Center in East Peoria. Dorothy was born July 6, 1930 in Monmouth, IL to John and Stella (Cannon) Lee. She married John Ray Childers on October 7, 1950 in Piggott, AR; he survives. Also surviving are her children, Pamela (Steve) Ristau and Terry Lee (Dorothy S.) Childers; three grandsons, Kenneth Ristau, Benjamin Childers, and Brian Childers; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, John, Bill, and Margaret Lee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the ultimate homemaker and enjoyed baking and canning. She loved children and retired from Faith Lutheran Child Care after many years of service. Special thanks are owed to OSF Hospice and Riverview Care Center for the loving and attentive care they gave to Dorothy and her husband. They are the essence of angels on earth. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice or St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington.
