Obituary
Dorothy Louise Werley Lusch, 97, of Washington, passed away at 1:00pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at her home.
Dorothy was born July 26, 1918 in Marion, OH to the late Carl Francis and Dorothy Irene Curran Werley, the third of nine children. She married John Wayne Lusch February 13, 1941; he preceded her in death April 30, 1971.
Surviving are her children, Franz "Fritz" Eugene (Cathy) of Mackinaw, John Mark (Cheryl) of Arlington, TX; Ann Louise (David) Harper of Laconia, NH; Frederick "Fred" George (Lynn) of Groveland; Theresa (Rick Williams) Williams Lusch of Pomona; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and brother, Richard "Dick" Stephen Werley of Punta Gorda, FL.
Dorothy graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Marion, OH. She was employed at Sawyer's Sanitarium, and later with The Marion Candy and Cigar Company, the family business. Re-entering the work force in 1972, she was first employed at the Kroger corporate headquarters in East Peoria. She retired from the Morton Parts Division at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1984.
She was a member of the "Friday Morning Breakfast Club" at Hardee's, active in several bridge clubs, and was a member and officer of the Washington Town Club and Home Extension. She loved to travel, was an avid crossword puzzle solver, reader, bridge player, backyard wildlife feeder, and classical music lover.
As an active member of St. Patrick's parish, Dorothy served on the funeral dinner committee, sang in the choir, and participated in the Cursillo Group 267 retreats. She drove and coordinated transportation of parishioners to medical appointments.
Dorothy's priority in life was always her family. Her beautiful smile and humor will be dearly missed. Her grace, positive attitude, and joy for life will always be an inspiration.
The family wishes to extend sincere and heartfelt thanks and gratitude to "Dorothy's Angels" for their love, kindness, and respect.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 705 E. Jefferson St., Washington. Visitation will be from 6-8:00pm Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory, 2075 Washington Rd., Washington. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, rural Morton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
