Dorothy Sue "Dewey" Childers, 67, of Peoria, passed away at 12:37am Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born October 30, 1955 in Chillicothe, IL to Wilvin and Nancy Davis Magee.  She married Terry L. Childers in Peoria on October 5, 1981.  He survives.

Also surviving are two step-sons, Brian and Ben Childers; six step-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie (Harvey) Smith, Phyllis Boley, Bridgette Magee; six brothers, Joe, Bill, Rudy, Peter, Tommy, and Pat; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marty.

Dorothy worked as a pre-school teacher before retiring.  She and her husband were foster parents for 25 years, fostering over 75 children.  She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
