Obituary EAST PEORIA - Doris B. Legaz, 86, of East Peoria, IL, died at 2:25 pm Sunday, June 12, 2011 at her home. Born on June 10, 1925 in Peach Orchard Township, IL to Carrie and Grace Ray Hutchcraft, she married Anthony "Tony" Legaz on May 6, 1945 in Peoria, IL. He survives. Also surviving are 1 son, James "Jim" Legaz of East Peoria, IL, 1 daughter, Anita (Jed) Ferdinand, of Bettendorf, IA, 1 granddaughter, Christina Legaz, 3 grandsons, James, Matthew, and Zachary Ferdinand, 1 great-grandson, Grayson Ferdinand, 1 sister, Lois (Dr. Wendell) Carter and 1 brother, William Kenneth (Carolyn) Hutchcraft, both of East Peoria, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister. Doris graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria and then worked for AT&T for 38 years including brief periods in New York City and Washington D.C., retiring in 1983 as a group manager. She and Tony enjoyed traveling extensively. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers for 38 years, and briefly of the American Business Women Association and the Peoria Optimist Club. She had a large collection of clowns and bells, and her fondest hobby was taking photos of family and friends as well as scenes from all over the world. She also belonged to many social clubs for over 50 years, like the couples club and the birthday club. Doris was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Services will be 10am Saturday, June 18, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, June 17, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church.
