Obituary

Donna J. (Harris) Norman of Peoria, IL, age 89, passed away peacefully July 14, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria with her loving family by her side. Donna was born November 26, 1931 in Peoria, Illinois to Clarence and Ruth (Hultquist) Harris. She graduated from Woodruff High School in 1949. Donna married her first love, Joseph R. Hardin, on November 12, 1949. Joe preceded her in death December 1987. Together they spent 16 years in the Air Force where they raised one son and four daughters, moving often as a military family. Finally settling in Low Point, IL in 1969 where both Joe & Donna worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company (Inc.) until retirement. Donna later married Robert (Bob) E. Norman of Bartonville, IL on November 26, 1999. He preceded her in death in January 2018. Together they traveled extensively including to their winter home in Punta Gorda, Fl. Donna is survived by her four daughters, Terrie (Vince) Carton, Delavan IL; Susan Hughes, Peoria IL; Nancy (Kevin) Nunn, Washington IL; and Donna (Skip) Utzinger, Peoria IL with whom she had lived since 2018; and daughter-in-law Rayann Hardin, Peoria IL (her son Randy Hardin, deceased June 2019). Plus: 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren (her great grandson, Seth Hardin deceased 2010) and one great-great granddaughter. All of whom she dearly loved, was very proud of, and was greatly devoted to. Donna loved dolls and spent many of her earlier married years buying them for the purpose of sewing clothes for them and giving them away to charities at Christmas time. Her latter married years she was very involved with creating and decorating miniature doll houses with the help of her husband, Bob. Hundreds of hours were spent on this hobby and lavish dollhouses were given away to people she loved. Donna also loved to read novels; mysteries were her favorites. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or burial services. Graveside burial will be accorded at Swan Lake Cemetery, Peoria IL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Sophia's Kitchen, c/o Sacred Heart, 504 Fulton St., Peoria, IL 61602; or The Penguin Project, 306 W. Morningside Dr., Peoria, IL 61614.
