Donald R. Yoder of Anderson, SC formerly of Morton, IL passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 91.
Don was born on May 2, 1935, in Peoria, IL to Jesse L. Yoder and Margaret A. (Yentes) Yoder. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 10 years Barbara E. Payne, his wife of 39 years Bobbie (Ringel) Yoder, and his only son Kirk Bradley Yoder of Mansfield, TX.
He is survived by two daughters, Angela S. Kemp (& Chris) of Anderson, SC, and Andrea L. Eddy (& Jim) of Spring Branch, TX, as well as seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived my his sister Marilyn (Yoder) Ringel of Pekin, IL.
After graduating from Morton High School, Don received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1957 from the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years. Don was a registered pharmacist in several states where he practiced in retail and clinical pharmacies for over 17 years. Later Don became the Water Treatment Lab Director for the Village of Morton Public Utilities until his retirement after 27 years of service.
Don enjoyed many activities, especially sports and music. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved jazz, blues, big band, and classic country western music. Don and Bobbie traveled the country to attend concerts and Jazz & Heritage (blues) festivals. Don also enjoyed reading, writing, dancing, and fishing at Kennel Lake.
Don and Bobbie spent many fall days in Iowa cheering for the Hawkeyes. Don also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was a member of the Grace and Peace Church, University of Iowa Alumni Association, the National Association of Retail Druggists, the American Pharmaceutical Association, Midstate Water Plant Operators Association (president and secretary for two terms), Kennel Lake Sportsman's Club, Texas Pharmaceutical Association, and the Central Illinois Blues Society.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
A memorial service for Don will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 5, 2026 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL.
