WASHINGTONa"Donald R. McIntyre, Sr., 76, of Washington passed away at 6:10 AM Monday, September 17, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on January 1, 1931 in Fountain Run, KY to Clinton J. and Nellie E. Simmons McIntyre. He married Nancy K. Arnold on June 26, 1960. She survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Donald R. (Angie) McIntyre, Jr. of Chillicothe, Kim Green of Rockford, IL, Clifford J. McIntyre of Boston, MA, Melody K. (Tony) Pompa of Chillicothe, and Jennifer L. McIntyre of Washington, IL; 11 grandchildren, Keri, Angie, Stephanie, Jessica, Braden, Emilee, Samantha, Lynn Marie, Kelly, Randy (R.J.) and Kayla; and 2 great grandchildren, Becca and Aaron; 3 step grandchildren, Tyler, Abby and Alex; 2 brothers, Wallace D. (Wylene) McIntyre of Buckatunna, MS, and Larry (Bonnie) McIntyre of Peoria; 2 sisters, Virginia Graham of Pekin, IL and Brenda K. (Steven) Dowdell of Sumter, SC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members to share in the celebration of Don's life. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and Fonis McIntyre; 1 sister, Barbara Cathey; and a grandson, Mark Green. Don was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1951-1953. He worked at Armour & Co. in Peoria, IL for 20 years, and worked from 1968-1992 at Caterpillar, Inc. when he retired after 25 years. Don had many loves in his lifetime, along with his wife, Nancy, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, Don had his Pekinese, Hercules. I don't know of the two of them, which one loved the other one more. He was a hardcore Chicago Cubs Fan, watching them play up until God called him home. Don loved life and everyone around him; there was never a doubt in anyone's mind how much he loved and cared about each and every one of us. He also loved golf--if he wasn't golfing, he was out looking for golf balls in the early hours of the morning. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Bob Donaldson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the funeral home, and the family asks that you wear your Chicago Cubs attire. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
