Obituary Donald R. Kanaga, 82, of Eureka, IL and formerly of Washington, IL, died at 8:01 am Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Advocate Eureka Hospital. Born on August 17, 1935 in Ashley, IN to Ralph and Kennis Potts Kanaga, he married Judith A. Shore on August 21, 1954 in Ashley, IN. She survives. Also surviving are their children; Wesley (Lori) Kanaga of Davenport, FL, Bradley (Annette) Kanaga of Washington, IL, Kelly (Milissa) Kanaga of Metamora, IL, and Nancy (Brian) Hoelscher of Eureka, IL, 1 sister, Ruth Ann Witt of Ashley, IN, 8 grandchildren; Ashley (Denver) Watters, Jonathan Kanaga, Kody Kanaga, Kasey Kanaga, Erin (Jacob) Sweeney, Andrew Hoelscher, Matthew Hoelscher, and Mia Hoelscher and 2 great-grandchildren; Cohen Sweeney and Rohmie Kanaga. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Stanley. Don received his Bachelor Degree from Tri-State University in Angola, IN and worked at O'Neill Brothers as a General Manager until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church where he participated in the United Methodist Men and enjoyed several Bible studies. Don loved gardening, watching his grandkids sports, traveling, reading anything he could, and telling stories to anyone who would listen. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where a service will follow at 7 pm. Rev. Paul Walles will officiate. A graveside service will be at 10 am Friday, December 1, 2017 at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials may be made to the Children's Hospital of Illinois or to the American Diabetes Association.
