Obituary East Peoria- Donald H. Hagemann, 85, of East Peoria died at 1:50 AM on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born August 9, 1923 in Peoria, IL to Henry Edward and Julia (Steigler) Hagemann. He married Bernadine M. Eckstein on June 28, 1952 at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. She survives. Other survivors include one sister Geraldine Hagemann of Peoria, step-sister Delores (Bob) Rudloff of Peoria, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-sister Doris Ruble. He was a US Army veteran, serving during WWII. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Donald was a Laborer at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1978. He later operated a greenhouse in East Peoria. He loved the outdoors where he farmed and gardened. Donald was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. He also was a lifetime member of the UAW Local #974, the American Legion Post #983 in East Peoria and also the Am Vets in Peoria. The family wishes to thank all the friends and neighbors who have been so kind during this time. A funeral mass for Donald will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 10 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. Father Ken Marchulones will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 PM. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30-10 AM Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his church.
