Obituary Donald Peter "Donnie" Grant, Jr. of East Peoria, passed away at 8:15am Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home. He was born September 22, 1951 in Peoria to Emma Mae (Paul) and Donald P. Grant, Sr. Surviving are his children, Angela (Jeffery) Pheasant of East Peoria, Windy (David) Bachman of East Peoria, Donald P. (Karmin) Grant III of Pekin, and Jimmie (Stephanie) Grant of East Peoria; twenty grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jeanette (Dave) Taylor of Creve Coeur, Ron (Michelle) Grant of Houston, TX, Sharon Stokes of East Peoria, and Sue (Ed) Dunn of Marquette Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Waylon-Willie B. Grant and Bryan Grant; and a brother, Thomas Grant. Donnie's world revolved around his family. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, whether it was fishing with them, watching them play sports, or spending time at the Peoria Speedway with them. Racing was his other passion; he was a driver at the Peoria Speedway and enjoyed supporting several drivers there, including his kids and grandkids who race. He always provided the snacks on race day. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Cardinals fan. He loved coffee, licorice, cashews, Slim Jims and butterbeans and was very talented at sewing. Donnie's absence will leave a hole in the hearts of those who knew him. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4-6pm at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home. Jack Cook will officiate. Guests are encouraged to dress casually in racing or Cardinals attire in Donnie's honor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Donnie's children.
