Obituary WASHINGTONa"Donald G. Gohring, 77, of Washington, IL, passed away at 9:20 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Heartland Manor Care of Peoria, IL. He was born Oct. 13, 1931 in Fulton, MO, to Henry and AnnaBelle Quaill Gohring. He married Norma L. Hagaman on May 2, 1953 in Peoria. Norma went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2006. Surviving are 2 daughters, Doneita McDermid and Diana Gohring, both of Peoria; 1 son, David Gohring of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Noah, Andrew, Asher, and Anna Belle Gohring. Don loved his grandchildren dearly. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Grace Harris, Aline (Leonard) Taylor and Mildred Terrell, all of Missouri; 2 sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Avery) Kidd of Missouri, and Gloria (Jim) McCaw of Deer Creek; 1 brother Morris (Jean) Gohring of Missouri, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Don was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked as an Inspector in Building KK at Caterpillar Inc. before retiring in 1991, after 30 years of service. He was a faithful and devoted member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. He was a prayer warrior to lots of family and friends. His favorite pastime was watching TBN and listening to the Gaithers sing and minister. Don's funeral will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 2201 E. Washington Road, East Peoria, IL at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. The Revs. Fred Doughty and Larry Nuttal will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, where military honors will be provided.
