Obituary
Washington- Donald F. Erdman 74, of Washington, died at 12:45 am Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL.
He was born September 25, 1935 in Kewanee, IL to Joseph and Emma (Hellman) Erdman. He married Mary Helen Young September 22, 1962 in Mt. Vernon, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Erdman of Peoria, IL; one son James Erdman of Decatur, GA; three sisters, Anna Gelaude of DeWitt, Iowa, Marie Sherbeyn of Kewanee, IL and Joann Clementz of Kewanee, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Don proudly served in the US Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Don earned his Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University, became a CPA, and served as Controller of Oak State Products in Wenona, IL for 16 years before retiring.
He volunteered at Midwest Food Bank, the Hult Center, and was a former board member of Peoria Marriage Encounter. Don was an avid bridge player and golfer.
He was a member of St Ann's Catholic Church in Peoria.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday March 27, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Fr. Terry Cassidy will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the US Navy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following services, the family will host a luncheon to celebrate Don's life. Cremation has been accorded.
