Obituary
Donald E. Craig, 73, of Washington, died at 10:35 AM, on Monday, June 4, 2007 at his residence.He was born on May 4, 1934 in Leroy, Illinois to Jesse and Clara Ferdinand Craig. He married Barbara J. Bowman on February 4, 1955 in East Peoria; she survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Michael E. Craig of Metamora, IL, Zoe England of Washington, IL and Donald D. (Victoria) Craig of Washington, IL; 2 sisters, Linda (Donald) Becker of Bartonville, IL and Ellen (Chester) Getz of Hanna City, IL; half-brother, Ronald Craig of Peoria, IL; half-sister, Debbie (Lyle) Block of East Peoria, IL; 5 grandchildren, Nathan England, Bryanne England, Maggie Craig, Trevor Craig, and Shawn Craig. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents. Donald served in the US Navy following the Korean War. He was a police officer for the city of East Peoria from 1958-65, and later worked in security for Caterpillar, Inc., for 31 years before retiring in 1991. Donald was a member of H.O.G. of America, Peoria Chapter, and was a member at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle, was a loyal supporter of the Peoria Rivermen, and loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. A memorial mass for Donald will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 8, 2007 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. The Msgr. William A. Watson will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, June 7 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Cremation rites have been accorded.
