Donald F. Chepan, 88, of Washington, passed away at 3:05 am Friday, January 22, 2021 at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria. Don was born May 17, 1932 to the late Edwin and Mary (Sargent) Chepan. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Chepan; step-son, Skyler Pearce; step-daughter, Shelli Shoop; and one brother, Edwin. He married Patricia Higginbotham on July 2, 1977 in Peoria. She survives. Don is also survived by a son, Allen (and Laura) Chepan and six grandchildren, Dara, Caitlin, Samantha, Barry, Kevin and Nicole. Don was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, serving for 4 years. He worked for 41 years at Caterpillar before retiring. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, especially if they were easy. He was also a Chicago Cubs fan. He traveled to several national parks with his family. Vacations with his beloved wife Pat were filled with fun and laughter. Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
