Dolores J. Otten, 92, of Washington, IL, died at 11:11 pm Monday, September 5, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 24, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to Burley G. and Libbie J. Easton Matthews, she married Gerald T. Otten on July 30, 1949 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2001.
Surviving are 6 daughters and 3 sons, Pam Mammano of Ottawa, Il, Terri VanTine of East Peoria, IL, Cathy (Randy) Collins of Milan, IL, Diane (Bob) Kurtz of Germantown Hills, IL, Mary Jane (Ron) Burtsfield of Creve Coeur, IL, Criss (Bob) Potzer of Aurora, CO, Jerry (Michelle) Otten and David (Tina) Otten, both of Washington, IL, and John (Molly) Otten of Omaha, NE, 1 sister Geri Shurts of Sunnyland, IL, 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 son-in-laws, Don Mammano and Jan VanTine, 2 sisters, Angelica Philllips and Shirley Snyder, 1 brother, Bud Hackett, 1 granddaughter, Amanda (Burtsfield) Kent and 1 grandson, David Mammano.
Dolores retired as a School Librarian from Peoria District #150. She also worked as a Secretary at Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington, the St. Patrick Senior Club, and the Catholic Women's Apostolate.
She loved being with her family, being a grandma, making quilts, having lunch with friends, watching birds, and going to church. Her most precious and important job was raising her 9 children.
A funeral mass will be at 10 am Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Patrick Church in Washington. Father John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6:45 pm Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where recitation of the rosary will begin at 6:45 pm. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lions Club, the Father Schubert Endowment Fund at St. Patrick School, or to the Amanda (Burtsfield) Kent Eastern Illinois University Memorial Fund.
