Diane Marie Switzer, 67, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born February 9, 1958 to Anna (Catton) Graham and Ronald DeMay in Kewanee, IL.They survive.

Diane spent her entire working life in the medical vocation. After graduating nursing school in Moline, she moved to Peoria to work as a certified pediatric nurse at OSF St. Francis for 36 years. During this time, she met her future husband, Tom Switzer. They were married on October 19, 1991 in Peoria. Though she never had children of her own, she and Tom decided to become foster parents. They had 5 foster children.

Diane is survived by her step children, Margaret Switzer and Stephanie Joos; her grandchildren, Robert (Danielle) Boland, Elizabeth Venzon, and Sophia Venzon; her great grandchildren, Eli Boland, Levi Boland, and Salem Gesinger; her siblings, Darren (Carrie) DeMay, Dorene Lay, and Denise Minnaert; her step father, Bob Tapprich; and her step mother, Donna DeMay.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Diane was cared for by her long time friend and companion, Kellie Hanley. Kellie was with her until she passed.

As an Alzheimer's patient for 9 years, there would be no better way to honor Diane's life than by walking in the Alzheimer's Association Walk for the Cure. Please mark your calendars for this event that will take place on October 4, 2025 at the Peoria Riverfront.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights.
