Obituary
WASHINGTON - Diana Rae Kennedy, 63, of Chenoa, IL and formerly of Washington, IL, died at 3:54 pm Monday, January 22, 2007 at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa.
She was born on March 21, 1943 in Peoria to Lloyd and Alice Wagner Leason, and married Robert J. Kennedy on August 19, 1961 in Peoria, Il. He died on February 22, 1997 in Normal, IL.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Jami (Ted) O'Neil of Normal, IL, Keli (Mike) Harding of McKinney, TX, and Shelli (Todd) Willoughby of Washington, IL, 1 son, Bob Kennedy of Portland, ME, 1 brother, Eddie (Mary) Leason of Texas, 2 sisters, Mary Alice Jankowitz of Westfield, NJ and Charlotte Ann Rains of Peoria, IL, and 9 Grandchildren.
She was the owner of the Gift Garden in Washington and had a wallpapering business called Papers Parallel. She also worked at Wildlife Prairie State Park.
She attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. She enjoyed decorating and was an avid gardener.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Meadows Mennonite Home, BroMenn Hospice, and Dr. Paul Hakes for the loving care you graciously provided for not only our mother, Diana, but for the entire family as well. Words can never express the comfort you have given us during this difficult time.
A Memorial Service will be at 3pm Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Jason Lee will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service from 1-3pm at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a continued celebration of life at the home of Diana's daughter, Shelli.
Memorials may be made to the Kings Unit at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa.
