Obituary Dennis William "Harv" McClelland, 67, of East Peoria, loving husband of Karen Simundson McClelland, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 8:30 pm at Kindred Hospital, Peoria, IL. He is survived by his wife of 33 years; a step sister & brother, Jill (Jay) Nickel and Jeffrey (Madalyn) Tinervin of Bloomington; his father-in-law, Merlin "Si" Simundson of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Ann (D.R.) Roberts of Decatur; his nephews, Andrew (Trisha) Roberts of Kailua, HI, Timothy (Paige) Roberts of Glen Ellyn and Mark (Julia) Roberts of Broomfield, CO; his brother-in-law, Mark (Loretta Sevier) Simundson of Chevy Chase, MD; nephew, Christopher Simundson of Denver, CO and niece, Gabriella Simundson of Washington, D.C. as well as 5 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, William "Bill" & Betty McClelland and his mother-in-law, Patricia Simundson. Harv attended Pontiac, IL schools and Illinois Wesleyan University. He was a professional pianist playing several years in New York City before returning to the Midwest. In 1980, he became the staff pianist for the Dance Program at Illinois State University. He also was the house pianist for Conklin Dinner Theater, and provided entertainment for years at the Pepper Mill Restaurant in Morton. He played for countless weddings, private parties and special occasions. For more than 20 years Harv played for the Queen's Pageant for East Peoria's Festival of Lights. Harv married Karen Simundson on December 19, 1982. He had many and varied interests and was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231 or to the charity of the donor's choice. A memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, IL. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service, from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
