Obituary

Obituary East Peoria- Delores M. Miller, 83 of East Peoria, passed through death and into eternity where she now resides with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This event occurred at 3:42 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Delores was born February 14, 1929 in Peoria, IL to the late Howard D.C. and Helen Gilbert Downey. She married Orville Miller on June 19, 1965 in Bartonville, IL, who survives her. Also surviving are two sons and two daughters, Howard (Harriett) Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark Anderson of East Peoria, Alexa Anderson (Mike Moynier) of San Diego, CA, and Rebekah (Lynn) Mayfield of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Katharine (Chris) Oldham of Dallas, TX, Christine Anderson of Houston, TX, Jonathan Anderson of Dallas, TX and Aerielle (Al) Anderson of Austin, TX. Delores was preceded into eternity by her first husband Reverend John Thomas Anderson and brother Aaron Downey. Delores graduated from Dunlap High School, Class of '46. She then graduated from Western University in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in education. She served on the Presbyterian mission field in Towaoc, Colorado with her husband John until his death in 1958. Returning to Illinois she taught regular and special education classes at several area elementary schools including Germantown Hills, Lincoln, John Hensley, and Beverly Manor. While raising her four children she met and married Orville Dale Miller, son of George and Florence Miller of Peoria. Delores also volunteered at Proctor Hospital for 15 years and was a member of the Peoria Philharmonic Choral. Delores and Orville were members of the Peoria Grace Bible Church and the Morton Whirl-A-Ways square dancing group. Honoring Delores' wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will take place at 10:30 AM, November 3 at The Rock Church, 1081 Upper Spring Bay Road, East Peoria. Visitation will take place one-half hour prior to service at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory of East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Operation Grace World Missions, PO Box 19508, Houston, TX 77224.
