Obituary Peoria - De Van Nguyen "Php Danh Minh Thuc'', 72, of Peoria, died at 10:10 AM Saturday December 31, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1939 in An Giang, Vietnam to Lieng Van Nguyen and Muoi Tran. He married Be Ba Nguyen in January 1960 in Saigon, Vietnam. She survives. Also surviving are four sons; Duc (Kieu My) Nguyen of Dunlap, Khai (Thuy Tien) Nguyen of St. Louis, MO, Tung (Thao Tran) Nguyen of East Peoria and Phuong (Indri) Nguyen of Metamora; three daughters; Oanh Kieu Nguyen of Peoria, Yen (Peter) Tran of Metamora and Loan Nguyen of Metamora. Fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers in Vietnam. De Van was an officer in the South Vietnam Navy before 1975. He came to the US on October 31, 1980. On August 21, 1990 he was reunited in the United States with his family from South Vietnam who he had not seen in fifteen years. He worked for Methodist Hospital from 1981 until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of Cha Qun m in East Moline. There will be private family prayers Monday January 2, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. There will be a visitation from 5-9 PM on Tuesday January 3, 2012 and a funeral service Wednesday January 4, 2012 from 9 - 11 AM at the funeral home.
