Obituary
WASHINGTON - Dawn Marie Barrett, 41, of 517 Greystone, Washington, IL, died at 10:48 am Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Born on March 27, 1966 in Springfield, IL to Leroy and Patricia Brandis Sekardi, she married Daniel L. Barrett on September 16, 1988 in Springfield, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Joshua D. Barrett and daughter Jaimie M. Barrett, both at home, her father, Leroy Sekardi of Springfield, IL, 1 brother, Dave (Rhia) Sekardi of Chatham, IL, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Dawn was a Senior Learning Analyst at Caterpillar Tractor Co, where she had worked for the past 13 years.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, where she served on the Meals Committee. She was an avid supporter of the MS Walk and participated in the Susan Koman Race for the Cure. She wrote children's books, enjoyed being outdoors and camping with her family, and spending time with her dogs, Lucy and Daisy.
A funeral mass will be at 10 am Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. The Rev. Joseph P. Donton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Monday, April 9, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, where a prayer service will be at 6:45 pm. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
Memorials may be made to an Education Fund for her children c/o Associated Bank.
