Obituary WASHINGTON--David E. McCrary, Sr., 62, of Washington, died at 2:32 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 31, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois to John and Norma Glenn McCrary. He married Sandy Karges on June 12, 1976 in Mackinaw, Illinois. Surviving are his wife Sandy McCrary of Washington; 5 children, David (Paula Jo) McCrary, Jr. of Bismarck, ND, John (Tasha) McCrary of Washington, Brandy (Arlando) Cooper of Mackinaw IL, Dawn Kiernan of Whitewater WI, and Lesa Philips of Pekin IL; 6 grandchildren; 1 sister, Barbara Pritchett of Ethelsville AL; and 3 brothers Raymond McCrary of Biscayne Park FL, Robert (Carol) McCrary of Pekin IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. David graduated from Limestone High School in 1964, and in that same year, joined the US Navy, where he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He specialized in electronics, having served in the radar room aboard the USS Ingersoll. Upon leaving the Navy, David worked for 40 years as an electronic repairman in the central Illinois area. David was a 25-year member of Liberty Baptist Church in Minier, IL. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. The Rev. John Horner will officiate. Deiters Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
