Obituary

David "Dave" L. Nordhielm, 55, of Washington, Illinois, crossed the finish line into Jesus' arms at 8:44 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on May 13, 1967, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Bert and Joyce Sprague Nordhielm. He married Patty Folkerts on November 14, 1992, in Washington, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, one son, David (Cailey) Nordhielm of Washington, and four daughters, Danielle Nordhielm, Sophia Nordhielm, Olivia Nordhielm, and Kate Nordhielm, all of Washington. Also surviving

are his father, Bert Nordhielm of Washington, a brother, Curt (Linda) Nordhielm of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and sisters, Cindy (Randy) Brassfield of Lincoln, Illinois, and Pati (Brian) Heller of Washington. Dave also leaves behind many other special friends and family members.

His mother and one brother, Brad Nordhielm, preceded him in death.

His wife and children lovingly cared for him at home during his eight-year battle with Alzheimer's. Dave had so much life to live and always lived it to the fullest.

He dearly loved the Lord and his family and served God and others in numerous ways. Dave didn't know a stranger and tried to encourage everyone he came in contact with. He gave to others, often without

them knowing. Dave was a minister, elder, and youth leader in various churches over the years, and was a member of Washington Christian Church. He was quick to make fun of himself and truly enjoyed making others laugh and feel better about themselves.

He was a lifelong Caterpillar employee, loved working for the company, and always gave them 100%. In his free time, his passion was running, talking about running, and coaching others in running. Through this God-given talent, while coaching, he also shared his love of Jesus and his family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Washington Christian Church in Washington. Pastor Gary Salm will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 17, from 4:00 pm

until 6:00 pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Further visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:50 am at the church before the funeral. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
