Obituary David "Dave" Olin Philips, 70, of Spring Bay, passed away at 2:04pm, Monday, June 9, 2014 at his home. Dave was born February 15, 1944 in Berwick, PA to Olin H. and Betty Cappe Philips. He first married Willa Baer, she preceded him in death. He then married Brenda Story on January 28, 2005. Surviving is his wife, Brenda; five sons, Derrick Philips of California, David (Lesa) Philips, of Pekin, Donald (Tracy) Philips of South Pekin, Don (Tina) Story of East Peoria, and Todd (Rachel) Story of Pekin; brother, John (Darlene) Philips of East Peoria, brother in law, Len Geiger of Tucker, GA; and step-mother, Lee Philips of Sedona, AZ; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Linda Geiger. Dave served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He worked as an engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria, retiring after nearly 40 years of service. He was an excellent cook, and enjoyed working on his Jeepster and spending time with his family. Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at RiversEdge United Methodist Church in Spring Bay, where he was a member. Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm, Friday, June 13, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, as well as one half hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to his church.
