Obituary WASHINGTON- Danny R. Sayer, 65, of Washington, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 3:15PM at Unity Point Health Proctor in Peoria. Danny was born November 20, 1949 in Peoria to Richard and Ethel Zimmerman Sayer. He married Esther Biera in Abilene, Texas on November 30, 1973. She survives. Also surviving are his sister-in-laws, Carmen (Felix) Acuna of Merkel, TX, Cynthia (Frank) Duran of Merkel, TX, Mary (Tony) Martinez of Abilene, TX; one brother-in-law, Tony (Virginia) Biera of Merkel, TX; his special nephew, Eddie Biera of Merkel, TX and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents. Danny graduated from Washington Community High School and then attended Midstate College in Peoria for 2 years. He worked for Bob's True Value in Washington before enlisting in the United States Air Force (1969-1973), serving in the Vietnam War. In more recent years, Danny worked as a delivery driver for several companies in the local area, including McKesson's, Lowes Hardware in Peoria, and RP Lumber in Morton. He enjoyed working on cars for his friends and family and watching NASCAR in his free time. Danny was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix almost anything. Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin. There will be a funeral service for Danny on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 6:00PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Joel Newton will officiate. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service, from 5:00PM-6:00PM. Inurnment will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, TX.
