Dana L. Ballinger, 73, of Washington, IL, died at 5:02 am Thursday, December 10, 2020 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Born on March 23, 1947 in Tacoma, WA to George and Vola Nebergal Black, she married Mark E. Ballinger on September 3, 1966 in Burlington, IA. He survives. Also surviving are 3 children; Mark (Kari) Ballinger of Marquette Heights, IL, Inger (Thom) Harrell of Washington, IL, and Ryan (Denise) Ballinger of Weatherford, TX, 11 grandchildren, and 2 sisters; Cheryl Black (Al Krug) of Albany, OR and Georgia "Chris" (Saul) Lubaroff of Iowa City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Stan. Dana graduated from Burlington High School, and attended Burlington Community College, both in Burlington, IA. Dana was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking, and spending time with family. Dana was a Chicago Bears and NASCAR fan. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico, and spending winters exploring Arizona. Her travels had also taken her to Taiwan, where her daughter was born. Dana and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States. Dana enjoyed having a Schnauzer as a travel companion. She was a music fan and enjoyed going to concerts such as The Eagles, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Billy Joel. Dana will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be at 2 pm Friday, June 18, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services. Inurnment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials in Dana's names may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
