Obituary Hopedale - Dalpha M. "Dal" Reed, 91, of Hopedale, formerly of East Peoria died at 1:55 PM Tuesday January 1, 2013 at Hopedale Nursing Home. She was born on December 30, 1921 in Pekin. She married Max Conn in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1944. She later married Vern Reed in September 1947 in Pekin. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1988 in Peoria. Dal was also preceded in death by her mother Myona Folkman Williams. She is survived by three daughters; Jill (Glenn) Keturi of Hopedale, Jan (James) Kee of East Peoria and Lynn Beresoff of Lombard, four grandchildren; Bret (Stacey) Mowery of Hinsdale, Leslie Mowery of Minneapolis, Rylan Keturi and Claire Keturi, both of Austin, TX and one stepbrother; David Williams of Maryland. Dal worked over 50 years as a court reporter for the Tazewell County Coroner's Office. She retired in 2006 at the age of 84. She was also a freelance writer and went by the name Georgiana Folkman. She published many articles over the years, her last being published in 2011. In 1966 she won a medical journalism award for Outstanding Medical Series by a weekly newspaper. The subject of the series was the need for a Health Department in Tazewell County. She was a member of East Peoria First United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the American Business Woman's Association in Peoria. Dal enjoyed spending time on the Par-A-Dice riverboat and loved playing poker and going to poker parties. There will be a funeral for Dal on Saturday January 5, 2013 at 10 AM Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery. Visitation JAN 5. 09:00 AM - 10:00 AM Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory - East Peoria 444 E.
