Cornelia (Connie) Purdue, 89, formerly of East Peoria, Illinois passed peacefully at Arabella Health Center in Carrabelle, Florida on Monday, November 27, 2023.

She was born November 23, 1934 in Anderson, Alabama to the late Loyd and Maebell Phillips Stewart. She married Raymond Purdue on October 16, 1954 in East Peoria, Illinois; he survives.

Also surviving are her children: David (Faith) Purdue of Crawfordville, Florida, Jerry (Dawn) Purdue of Metamora, Illinois, and Patti (Gary) Zellner of Crawfordville, Florida; and her grandchildren, Amy Purdue of Tallahassee, Florida, Nick (Anna) Purdue of Bloomington, Illinois, and Sarah (Brandon) Schatsiek of Broomfield, CO.

She was also preceded in death by her two brothers Robert and Hoyt Stewart.

Connie was last employed as a bookkeeper for C.A. Powley Sand and Gravel. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mom, and grandma. She loved caring for her family and spending time with them. She loved the Lord and formerly attended Highview Church of God in Washington, Illinois where she was active in the women' s group.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with the Rev. Dr. Jason Woolever presiding. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm Saturday at the Meadow Valley Center at Deiters. Graveside service will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
