Obituary
WASHINGTON - Clyde Weldon Land, 79, formerly of Washington, died on Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL.
Born on April 22, 1929 in Fayetteville, TN to Elvie and Dovie Carter Land, he married Louise Green on May 3, 1953 in Mississippi. She died on June 28, 2003 in Washington, IL.
Surviving are 1 son, Gary "Mouse" (Valerie) Land of Morton, IL and 1 daughter Debbie (Rick) Keith of Chicago, IL, 1 granddaughter, Stacey (Matt) Putts of Peoria, IL and 2 great-grandchildren, Baley and Jayden Putts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant child, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Clyde was a US Army Corporal serving 3 years in the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver at Caterpillar Tractor Co. and also as an independent truck driver in the Peoria area.
Services will be at 11 am Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Mark Westman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
