Obituary East Peoria- Charles W. Taylor, 84, of Morton, formerly of East Peoria, died at 12:02 PM on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Heartland Manor Care of Peoria. He was born on October 8, 1925 in Kennett, MO to Robert L. and Vestil Burdette Taylor. He married Marjorie C. Uhlmann on October 13, 1946 in Ava, MO. She survives. Also surviving are daughter Nancy (Edward) Betts of Chillicothe; brother Olis B. (Ann) Taylor; 8 nieces; 2 nephews; 3 grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother and in July of 2009, his son Ronald D. Taylor. Charles worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria where he stayed for 30 years until his retirement in June of 1981. He was baptized at 8 years old and was a member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria for over 52 years. He had been a past member of the Masonic Lodge, enjoyed golfing, playing cards and loved his grandchildren and family. A memorial service for Charles will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria.
