Charles E. Heil, 70, of East Peoria, passed away at 11:50am Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care in East Peoria. He was born August 28, 1951 in Peoria, IL to the late Oscar and Genevieve Schnicker Heil. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul. Charles graduated from Washington Community High School. He loved high school sports, (especially Washington), and NASCAR. He married Barb Champion on April 25, 1980 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are his sister, Mary Kay Ahonen from TN; several nieces and one nephew. He worked at Caterpillar for 32 years, retiring in 2005 and was a member of the UAW. He also worked for the Roth family in Morton, and Avis/Budget car rental at the Peoria Airport. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Cremation will be accorded with inurnment at Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Peoria.
