Obituary Charles E. "Chuck" Currens II, 49, of Morris, formerly of Washington passed away at 11:52am Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Chuck was born August 17, 1968 in Peoria to Charles E. and Maria Cervantes Currens. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Currens; granddaughter, Skyler; parents, Chuck and Maria; grandmothers, Dorothy Brooks and Lola Ponce; sisters, Yvette (Matthew) Hodges and Yvonne (Jeff) Bambule; two nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Wayne Currens, Jose Ponce, and Leland Brooks. Chuck was employed by Linde Group in Romeoville, IL. He formerly worked at Koppers, Inc and as a tankerman on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Chuck had a big personality and never met a stranger. He loved being Pawpaw to his granddaughter. Chuck also loved spending time with his extended family which included aunts, uncles, hundreds of cousins, and countless friends he considered to be his family. He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed traveling, especially on his bike. Chuck loved his Harley and lived to ride. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Chuck's granddaughter c/o CEFCU. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at 6:00pm Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00pm prior to the memorial Saturday at the funeral home.
