Obituary WASHINGTON--Charles E. Bennett, 87, of Washington, died at 9:05 PM, on Monday, April 23, 2007 at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton, IL. He was born on January 17, 1920 in Tazewell Co., Illinois to Charles Eldridge and Lillian Mae Harvey Bennett. He married Caroline G. Tuttle on June 20, 1970 in Tazewell Co., IL; she survives. Also surviving are 3 step sons, Wendell (Jodie) McAbee of McMinnville, TN, Clyde McAbee of East Peoria, IL, and Robert Washburn of Michigan; 1 step daughter, Vicki McAbee of Pensacola, FL; 1 sister, Ethel Sheckler of Peoria, IL; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. Charles was a laborer working in construction in Peoria. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local #165. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Bishop Scott Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria.
