Obituary
PEORIAa"Cecil D. Bilbrey, age 101, died at 10:30 PM Monday, March 29 2010 at Fondulac Rehabilitation Center in East Peoria, IL.
He was born May 22, 1908 in Secor, IL to Ira and Mary Pearl Sparks Bilbrey.
He married Pearl Honeg on October 29, 1936; she preceded him in death in 1986. He later married Wilma Halverson on July 14, 1990 in Decatur; she survives.
Also surviving is a son, Steve Bilbrey of Peoria; son-in-law, Michael O. Firmand of Germantown Hills; and step-daughter Sandra (Harold) Kastl of East Peoria; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Firmand, one sister, Gladys Ruth Bilbrey Punke, and a great grandson, Topher Fiddes.
Cecil worked in the food canning business for 25 years, during which time he served as a superintendent of various plants, including owning and operating Bilbrey Canning in Morton, IL. He also was employed with the State and Federal Government, where he served as a supervisor over food manufacturing, canning, freezing and distribution and served as the associate director for war food administration.
Cecil later was self-employed in the building and construction field, serving as a construction superintendent and architectural draftsman until his retirement in 1990.
He was a very active in the Masonic Lodge being a 79-year member and Past Master of El Paso Lodge #246 and having dual membership in Eureka Lodge #306 and the Washington Taylor Lodge #98. He was also a member of the Peoria Consistory and Peoria Shrine.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Chaplain Chuck Wilcox of OSF Hospice will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home in Washington. Burial will be at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka, IL.
