Catherine Jenkins, 63, of Lacon, passed away at 5:23pm Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was born November 10, 1959 in Erie, IL to James and Donna Mahaffey DeSmit.  She married Douglas L. Jenkins in Kewanee on December 10, 1977.  He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Donna DeSmit; three children, Cassandra (Christopher) Caccia, Michelle (Clair) Divert, Stephanie (Derrick) Zick; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Ken (Joann) DeSmit, Doug (Sue) DeSmit, Pete (Liz) DeSmit, Debbie (Rich) Lasky, Matt (Shana) DeSmit, Tom (Daina) DeSmit, Dave (Teressa) DeSmit.  She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, John DeSmit.

Catherine worked as a service manager for a truck dealership before retiring.  She and her husband loved to travel in their motorhome.  She will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
